Dear Temporary Employee,

Congratulations on acing your interview and landing the job! A temporary position is a great way to build your skill set, expand your network, and gain industry knowledge. Often times, a temporary position has the potential to become a full-time permanent position even if not initially disclosed as such. It’s important to treat every day like an interview and strive to showcase your best work to impress your team members. Here are a few ways you can set yourself up for success:

Become a student of your business. Step outside the boundaries of your role and be a true team player. Ask how you can be a contributor to the greater mission of your business and strive to learn every aspect of each business line. This not only shows your initiative, but also proves your genuine investment in the business.

Make it a point to meet everyone. A great way to make a name for yourself is to step outside your own team and meet everyone in the company. You’ll never know what kind of industry leaders you will meet and this will also help you greatly expand your knowledge of the company and open doors for how your work can impact the business. Pro tip: Remember their names and address them often!

Exercise physical and mental hygiene. Personal hygiene should be a given in the workplace, but a great piece of advice is not to dress for the job you have, but dress for the job you want. Mental hygiene just means exercising your best maturity and judgement while acting professional.

If the position does not have the availability to become permanent, a job well done will earn you fantastic references as well as future consideration for other positions within the staffing agency.
